We went out for some sunshine Sunday and ended up at Crystal Peak Park in Verdi. It was a nice day by the river...

Snowed Friday...

 Friday afternoon we got a surprise blast of snow. Here it is in the infancy stages around 4 PM. It got way worse. The roads froze into solid sheets of ice. Driving was NOT fun!!!

To those who serve....

During the Rose Parade a soldier was reunited with his wife and four-year-old son. The wife and son had no idea of the soldier was home. Upon seeing his dad, but son ran towards him and they all embraced together. It was an emotional scene, and everyone that saw it was obviously touched. My thoughts then turned to God. I thought of all the hundreds of thousands of soldiers whose families miss them, too. And then I thought how God knows the life- situation of every single soldier, and that of every loved one...

December 9, 2012

Our beloved Max passed away December 14, 2012 after an arduous battle with cancer. Words cannot describe how sad we are and how much we miss him. He was truly one of a kind. His infinite unconditional love for everyone, and the tremendous joy and laughter he brought to  all of us over the last 10+ years, is immeasurable. We love you big fella, and we always will!!!

Thanksgiving

We went down to visit Dad over Thanksgiving. The drive down took 12 hours (never go on TG eve!). We had a great time. Simone made a fantastic dinner, after which we went shopping at Target (yes, there's a story behind that...).

Merida, Yucatan, Mexico

Simone and I enjoyed a wonderful trip to Merida in late October through early November. Merida is a beautiful, safe city of over 1 million people, and is the capitol of the state of Yucatan. We rented a home in downtown. We enjoyed being immersed in the local culture. We saw many events that were part of the Hanal Pixan (Dia de los Muertos) 2012 Celebration. We loved the friendly people and the wonderful food. We toured Ixmal, once the largest city in the Mayan civilization. We also toured Uxmal, a Mayan ruin similar to Chichenitza but more well-preserved.
